Materia Mundi is now in print
The perfect is the enemy of the good
I know the version of Materia Mundi that I want to publish. I know the version of Materia Mundi that I can publish. Getting something out there for people to start playing takes priority.
The hardcover is $35, the softcover is $25, and the pdf is free. It’s 280 pages or so, and the page dimensions are 7.5” x 9.25”. I think I managed to catch any printing errors, but I’m sure someone will find them and I’ll have to update it in a few months.
In a few weeks, I’ll also be publishing a set of 5.5” x 8.5” handbooks - a Player’s Handbook, an equipment and magic item handbook, and three spell list handbooks. I expect to sell each handbook for $5, or $18 for all five, or $50 for the hardbound tome plus all five as a “get everything” bundle. Everything in the handbooks is already in the compendium, but the handbooks are … handy … resources to … hand … out to your players, so they can reference the player-facing rules or their class’s available magics without fighting over who has the main book.
What’s Next
Once the game is in people’s hands, and people other than me have started discussing it on social media, my next step will be a kickstarter edition - hire some real artists, maybe a layout guy, and produce something that feels more professional than “this guy literally wrote this, doodled the sketches, did the layout, and published all from his bus down by the river”.
Thanks for coming along with me on this journey, and I hope you enjoy playing!
